Qualification and Eligibility Criteria
- BE/ B.Tech, ME/ M.Tech – Computers/ IT/ Electronics
- Candidate must have a minimum of 60% or above both in Class X, XII & Graduation
- No backlogs at the time of the interview
- Excellent communication skills.
- Willing to relocate to any part of India.
- 60 percent or above in B.Tech, Class X and XII
- Only full-time courses will be considered (HCL Recruitment moderators will reject any part-time or correspondence courses)
HCL's Policies on Recruitment
- An applicant is ineligible to apply if he or she has participated in the HCL Recruitment process within the last 6 months from the date of application.
- If HCL rejects the candidate's application for whatever reason, he or she is ineligible to apply again for 6 months.
- If an applicant misses the interview for any reason after applying, he or she has the option to reapply.
Documents Required (Original and Photocopies)
Before applying, you must have the following documents on hand:
- At the time of the interview, all original mark sheets from SSC (10th), Intermediate (12th), and Graduation must be shown. Also carry a copy of a set of all documents.

Selection process
Once candidates' applications are received, the company recruiters will send communication to those candidates who meet the criteria.
The recruitment process consists of four stages/rounds in which freshers are chosen for positions as Software Engineers
- Written Test (Aptitude)
- Group Discussion
- Technical Interview
- HR Interview
The elimination would be there at each level to screen the aspirants for the job opening.
Test Pattern in Detail with Tips
Round 1: Written Test

- There will be a total of 60 questions to answer in 60 minutes
- There will be no sectional cut-offs or negative grading
- The written exam level will range from difficulty from moderate to difficult, and candidates must approach each section with caution and care.
- The quantitative ability section of the paper is to assess the applicants' mathematical abilities and knowledge. This part includes questions on algebra, ratios, and proportions, simple and compound interest, profit and loss, HCF & LCM, permutations and combinations, time speed and distance, time and work, trigonometry, height and distance, percentage, probability, and other topics.
- The reasoning section is to assess applicants' logical and analytical abilities, as well as their wit and mental agility. Visual reasoning, data interpretation, and sufficiency, syllogism, coding and decoding, puzzles, graphs and charts, Venn diagrams, odd one out, analogy, sequence and series, ranking, age-related questions, and other topics will be asked
- The verbal ability section is used to assess candidates' grammar and English language skills. Reading passages, basic questions such synonyms, antonyms, idioms, and phrases, paragraph completion, sentence rearrangement and correction, vocabulary, and other topics will be covered.
- The third section is the technical ability section, which is used to assess candidates' technical know-how and knowledge. Candidates should expect questions about programming languages, computer programs, data structures, algorithms, and other fundamental concepts. This section can be passed by if you have a strong command on the concepts.
Round 2: Group Discussion
Students who pass the written round are called to participate in the Group Discussion Round. In this round, you will be given a topic and asked to express your opinions on it, either in favour or against it. They want to put your communication skills to the test. They simply want to gauge your self-confidence and language abilities.
Candidates will be given random topics to debate and discuss after expressing their opinions and ideas on the subject.
This round is sometimes replaced by a JAM (Just A Minute) round, in which you must speak for one minute on the topic provided to you.
Tips:
- Take initiative
- Speak clearly and fluently
- Be confident
- Give everyone a chance to speak and wait for your turn.
- Share your points as soon as another candidate is finished.
- Interrupting others is not a good idea.
- Be polite and professional
Round 3: Technical Interview
Students who pass the GD round are called to participate in the Technical Round. There is no hard and fast rule for which topics will be asked in this round; depending on the panel, you can expect questions on any topic. To pass this round, you must have a firm grasp on the fundamentals, Data structures and algorithms, DBMS, Operating System, Networking, OOPs ideas, and a programming language of your choice should be covered. Students in areas other than CS should study the other two subjects that are relevant to their field. In the interview, CS students will be expected to write code. They also quiz you on the information you have mentioned on your résumé.
Interview Round
This is the final and most important step of the entire selection process, which includes a face-to-face interview with the company's human resources department. The HR round is a completely unscripted event in which candidates should expect the unexpected. There is no set of questions that will suffice for this round, nor is there a set of questions that the interviewer will ask or not ask. Candidates can pass this stage with pure confidence, knowledge, and mental fortitude.

The list of candidates is announced after all of the interviews are completed. If you passed the HCL interview process, your name will appear on this list, and you will receive your offer letter and joining letter within a week.

Candidates who are chosen through the application procedure will be paid between 2.4 lakhs and 3.5 lakhs.
